    Drivetrain Donor Selection

I have a 1998 Tahoe 2 Door 4WD with the NP246 Autotrac transfer case and I am trying to figure out which donor vehicle I should be looking for so I can use at least my stock front driveshaft and hopefully the rear as well. From what I've read so far it looks like a 1999-2002 1500 Silverado / Sierra or Tahoe / Yukon that has the NP8 option(np246) will have the same output shafts as the tcase that's currently in my truck. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I am also curious about the wiring for the dash switch as well.

I've been wanting to swap my 5.7 to a 5.3 or 6.0 for some time now and now that my tcase is going out(which is $1000 alone) I figured I can justify spending the $2500-$3000 it would cost for a complete salvaged donor truck from a local salvage auction. Then I'll be getting engine, trans, and transfer case, plus any odds and ends that I may need off the donor.

    Any input would be appreciated.

My 2001 Silverado has the 5.3/4L60E/Auto Track Transfer Case (I believe NP246), I'm pretty sure your info is correct.

From what I've read that is true. I have heard, though, that different years of the NP246 have different output shafts and possibly different encoder motors and therefore different wiring.
