    Power steering lines 6.0 in a 1990

I was curious to see what you guys were doing for the power steering lines in trucks with a new style pump?

Depending on how new you're talking about would mean if you have a hydraboost pump or not. If you have one of those...there are some other changes that need to take place to make it work, mainly brake booster.

Otherwise, if its just a new style regular pump, the lines should fit like they do on the new vehicles with a little "massaging". The lines can be bent a little bit and will be fine as long as you don't kink any of it.

Mine came off of a 2004 Avalanche and was hydraboost, so I just went to the salvage yard and got one from a 2001 pickup and bolted it right up, and the lines were very close.

You probably have a hydraboost pump then. Check and see if your PS pump has three lines coming out of it. If it does, then it is indeed a hydraboost pump and you'll need to have a hydraboost master cylinder to make it all work.

If it has 2 lines coming out of the PS pump, then you're all good to go. Just route the two lines to the steering box on your OBS and it'll fit in like the old one.

Finally went and looked at it today, it does in fact have 3 lines on it.
So you are saying that I will need to swap to a master cylinder from one of the newer trucks?
I am guessing one of the lines is a vacuum line?
Is the master cylinder a direct replacement for the factory 1990 one?

can't think of reason not too, but why? they hydroboost is so much better than a vacuum powered booster. plus you can have a bigger cam and not worry about having enough vacuum to run your brakes

Ever try to stop a hydraboost vehicle when the engine dies? You have to have legs like the Hulk.

Yes, Greg, now that you mention it........or when the pump shaft shears off as you're making a tight turn into a small opening.
