    6L80E 4wd >> 2WD

Do any of you guys have any info on changing a 6L80E from a 4WD unit to a 2WD piece?

Just remove the transfer case then get the new output shaft from GM?

If the output shaft trick works like the older 4-speed autos the trans will still have to be pulled and disassembled.

Talked to my guy @ the dealership today and he didn't see too much of an issue besides the fact the the reluctor wheel is in the transfer case on a 4wd model and inside the tranny for a 2wd model.

Aside from that he couldn't give me much info.

Don't suppose anyone is looking to trade a lightly used 6L80E 4wd tranny for a 2wd version + cash...?

Ironic. I might be able to help you out. I have a 2wd 4l80e and I need a 4wd for my jeep project.

Two options, if you are close enough we'll just trade em out.

Otherwise, I'll buy your 4x4 tail cone and use in on my 2wd tranny. I'll send you my 2wd cone so you don't have to buy one. It's easier to go from 2wd to 4wd than vise versa. All i have to do is change the tail cone and cut my output shaft a little.

    I'm in louisville, KY

Will the 4L80 cone work on the 6L80?
