    ls bellhousings

    hey guys, whatsup

like yall know im completly gutting a 99 chevy 2500 engine, dash, harness all of it into a 89 chevy 1500. one trick though, the 2500 is a 4wd and im keeping my 89 a 2wd. ive got a guy who wants to trade a nv 4500 2wd out of a 92 1500 for my 4wd off the 2500. there both nv4500 tran. but dose anyone know if the old style bellhousing will bolt to the 99 6.0l. he sais it will but i dont know if i should trust him. his also has a external slave cylender and mines internal will that matter.

I doubt it. The T-56 from an LT1(Gen II) will NOT bolt up to ANY LS(GenIII) motors. Gotta have T-56 from 98+ Fbody with LS-1, as an example.

wrong, the bellhousing is the same, its the input shaft that is different

all GM bellhousings have same bolt patterns
    2002 Lightning - GT headed 5.5Litre w/ Twin 7665s
    2002 Silverado - 427Lsx w/ Twin gt4202s
    2010 Silverado crewcab Z71 - 5.3litre w/ procharger
    2000 Wrangler - 5.3litre with some stance
    2014 Xsport- 3.5 Eco boost
    412 Motorsports

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

Well, to a point. The patterns are similar but one bolt hole doesn't line up from the Gen1 to Gen3/4 conversions but it won't kill anything on a Chevy/GMC engine. Buick, Olds, Pontiac has a different pattern and so do true diesel engines excluding the Olds diesels.

you may have to get a custom pilot bushing made for the crankshaft. The early 6L engines have the same length crank as the old Gen1/2 engines. The trans will bolt to the 6L minus one bolt hole.

yeah, i heard that about the crankshaft spacing being different but i think the 99 is the proper length. anything after that im pretty sure you have to obtain a crankshaft spacer. i was told any machine shop can mill one out of brass.
thanks for the info guys just wanted some more trustworthy opinions. i guess ill trade the guy and bolt it up. ill let you know what happens. hopefully i wont be pulling a pressure plate out of my leg lol.
