Aggies Swap
I figured Id start this thread to stop whoring the Racers Lounge and get tips during my swap. Think Im just gonna throw this 07 5.3 in. I wanna use the rest of the money I saved up for a friends fiberglass painted box for my back seat. I took the valve covers off today just to look inside and everything seemed tight and good. I think Im just gonna throw a sweet cam p-rods and springs in this. Plus I wanna make it stronger than the last engine if you know what I mean. Would new rod bolts and cam bearings be a good upgrade? Anything else you can think of would be nice!
Im still gonna run the LS6 Oil Pump ported by a friend as well. Anyone know of really good cam packages out right now or good condition used packages?
Also I might be buying my friends Yank 3000 Stall, Would it be better to wait and put it in my built tranny I will be getting or would it affect anything if I put it in now? (Note, my second gear is still out) would a servo maybe help me shift from 1-3 instead of it slipping when shifted to 2nd?
Would it be wise to keep the accessories off my 4.8 since they are a bit lower in mileage? or just use the 07 accessories?
Tuning: As for tuning, Im kinda clueless what I should do right now, would it be be better to ask Allen to send a mail tune for the new cammed 5.3 I would throw in? Or my friend has HP Tuners and said he could temporarily tune it for the cost of the license just to make sure everything will be running correctly on startup.
As for the 4.8? What should I do with it? Part it out I guess and if the cam isnt too screwed up or the heads and springs and stuff I guess Ill sell those too. I kinda didnt like the gains I got from the cam, the lope got annoying as hell too. Im thinking the next cam will be a 114 LSA.
