    Coolant sensor question.

Does the LS engines coolant temp. sensor put out the same signal as a TBI coolant sensor? I've searched and found that I can use an F-body 3 wire sensor but I'm cheap and was wondering if I can just splice the wire to my guage into the two wire sensor.

No, it will cause the temp sensor to send a messed up signal to the pcm.

ok, but the 3 wire will work right? I'd rather not run two sensors and $20 for the s&p adaptor is kinda overpriced.

$20 is cheap if you consider what it takes to make one yourself.

It would be a hard to find adaptor anywhere else but I think i'm gonna go with the 3-wire sensor. I saw the part numbers posted here somewhere just got to find'em.

You can use the 3 wire sensor, its from a 98 Camaro/TransAm, but the resistor value inside the sensor is wrong for your dash gauges, it will always be off.

I'm actually running a 95-98 cluster. Would the resister value be wrong for those guages? If it was to be off would it be off by much?

Anyone know? I read where nitrous said he used the s&p adapter and his temps. were off by around 12 degrees. Would the readings be of that much using the 3-wire with my guage cluster?

I ran out of options on the 93 I'm doing now as to where to put the water temp sensor so I tapped the water pump, behind the tensioner pulley, and put the factory 93 sensor there.
