Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver!

Ive been floating around webpages my last 2 months looking for upgrades and many sites keep bringing me back here. Im currently in Iraq. Not as a soldier this time, Im a contractor this time. 4th tour so far. I have less than a month before I get back home to Texas. I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic. About the extend of my mods are a single in/dual out flowmaster with turndowns. I got the 4.3 Liter V6 version and nothing special. Its the Work Truck version. About mid November when I get home, Im going to pack up the freshly delivered STS Turbo Kit and intercooler and make a trip down to San Antonio to get it installed by Nelson Performance and tuned. Chevy says its a 195 HP engine, Im guessing it will dyno at about 100 HP stock. If I can squeeze about 300-350 HP out of it by the time Im done Ill be happy. Ill post pics of the installation and the mods when i get the chance. Anyone with a Vortec V6 that has done some mods, feel free to send me a message and let me know about them. I have a 5 speed also. Transmission upgrade recommendations would be greatly apreciated.

Im leaving that decision up to the motor. If it handles 8-10psi without throwing things around...then we will have a good relationship. If it spits at me like a squirrel hyped up on energy drinks, Ill be right behind you with that 5.3.

My Blazer is a 4.3 and has no internal mods but light bolt-ons. I kept thinking I'd mod it a little when it broke but at almost 205K miles, it hasn't needed anything but minor repairs. Yes, it's slow (and lighter than your truck even though I have an automatic). Runs 10.6 in the 8th with 3.42's.

very possible to get 300 to 350 with the sts setup. You might want to look into getting an marine intake manifold first though for better tuneability due to being able to swap out injectors.Im in the process of getting my turbo build done by using left over syclone parts.

Welcome to the site! Wow--you might be our first 4.3L turbo guy! I am sure the 4.3L could handle some decent boost--its a stout motor with a relatively low CR, so it should be pretty strong..especially in the torque dept. Good luck with it all!

Yeah, I figured with the gas prices still on the rise, Ill play with this V6 until it slings parts. I remember reading somewhere online that someone had taken a 4.3 liter and had Katech Engineering build it up and dropped it into an S10 that ran some outrageous numbers. I think it was 107-112 octane gas with 500+ HP and Some 7 second 1/4 mile times. All naturally aspirated. Im on the search for the article now and Ill post the location when I find it.

Im still looking for the article. I remember it saying something about 6 being equal to 8. Referring to the same amount of horsepower could be produced. I did run across this webpage though for all you 6.0L people. Click Here
