01 5.3L. Having a problem with the ole 5.3. During normal throttle and acceleration it is perfectly fine. When i put a load on the motor all hell breaks loose. It starts making a ticking/knocking sound at 3600rpms all the way to 6000. it doesnt sound good at all, and really doesnt go anywhere. It just started doing it out of nowhere, for no reason at all. the motor only has 21,000 miles on it. It seems to be faster with half to 3/4 throttle than at full. Im stumped, so some help would be nice.
Does it run like crap while making the noise? Or is it just making a noise

Runs like crap while making noise. Doesnt seem like its going anywhere. Its starts up fine, no clattering or anything. Runs and drives fine, just when you stomp on it, it loses its power at 3600-6000.
If you have some time take the valve covers off and check to see if the rocker arms are tightened down. I dont know if that is even remotely close to the problems you are having but it could be something loosened up..

I thought it might be something like that, but i wasnt sure. I also thought it might be a sticky valve or lifter
When i first did my swap two of the rocker arms had come loose and it was making a loud tapping noise and ran like crap

Only under throttle, or all the time? Off topic, but my truck looks pretty much exactly like yours, just not as low and different wheels.
