    Wiring..

    I am dreading the wiring on this project, the thread about the guys not starting has me confused and worried at the same time. How much splicing do I have to do when I send off my harness to have it remade and what exactly do they do to it when the "remake" it?

    I spliced about 5-6 wires to get mine running and the wires were all at the C100 connector on the firewall except for the altenator wire which I also extended off the factory 97 battery cable.

    That doesn't sound all that bad but some of these posts make it sound like rocket science.

    It's not, just get access to alldata and you can get weather pack connectors from the auto parts store to keep it all plug and play. Study your factory harness well and mark everything you cut at the C100 and roll the wires up for a possible later use but cap them off with some heat shrink.

    From the C100 how do I know what they all go to? Isint that the dash stuff?

    It gave me a heart attack to think about all of it. Then i see how easy it is and wish i could have done it my self, but my stupid neighborhood. anyway just don't snip any wires until you got it all running. thats when you can start cleaning house a little.

    Yep, like Chevy Lee says, roll them up for later. Most everything is run through the C100 and PCM but depending on you're relays and fuses the wires can be cut before and after the factory fuse box. I eliminated the factory A/C relay and pcm fuses and added an external fuse box with A/C, electric fans and pcm fuses just because I made a plug and play mini harness to plug into the factory LS1 harness. With Nelsons harness it should be a breeze I still want one to play with.

    BTW your engine bay is my desktop and motivation for this project!

    I remember being TOTALLY lost when I had to begin the wiring too! LOL...Its not a good feeling not knowing where to go to learn, and UNDERSTAND the wiring to get these babys going. I went on E-Bay & bought Volume 2, of the Factory GM Service Manuel. There is a Volume 1 also, but that Volume covers mostly mechanical & body service, plus I'm cheap. Volume 2 has EVERYTHING you will need to easily figure out your wiring. It has all the diagrams that show each & every wire that exits your C-100 connector at the drivers side firewall, etc...which will help you to connect each dash gauge, A/C request wire, main keyed power wire, and on and on... Its simple after you have this book. I learned years ago that this is the only way to fly. Also, when your done, you can help others with simular questions.
