    trans is acting up

i was driving home leaving walmart and noticed a buddy in his vmax and i havent seen him in a while so we go out to run and thats when the problem starts!!!

my truck shifts at like 5000 and shifted from first to od or 3rd...i dunno, but it was not second gear.

so we raced again....same thing happened
    anyone else have this prob?

TPS or MAP sensor. Next choice would be the 1-2 shift solenoid in the trans.

it shifts fine if not at wot...so i wouldnt think it would be the shift solenoid.

i have an extra tps so i guess ill swap it out....how hard is the map sensor to get to?

its on top of the intake manifold if I remember correctly. Very easy to reach. Also, check for wires with nicks/cuts in them.

MAP is on top of the intake manifold, all the way at the back, right in the center.

Hey i just started having a similar problem. My truck shifts great from 1-2 but when it goes from 2-3 it seams like its shifting out of OD then shifting to 3rd. It almost feels like its slipping but I don't think thats what it is. It doesn't matter if I'm on it hard or babying it through the shift it does the same thing, but if I put it in tow it doesn't do it at all. That and my check engine light just came on and the code says I'm running lean. This all just started Friday on my 400 mile trip to MI. I drove it and every thing went OK just shifted goofy. Any thoughts???

Check the fluid level and color. If its dark, your 3rd gear clutch pack is toast most likely.

Easiest way to tell is drop the trans pan and see if there is sediment in it. If so, time for a refresh.
