    Pistons? and other ?

Ok well i want to get some pistons for the lt1, and dont really know what to get?

I have thought about doing a stroker kit, but you can upgrade your pistons if you please, can you guys help me out with this on what to get? Most of the kits come with flat top pistons or should i go with another type?

Can you also help me and tell what the diffrenceson between pistons are, i know that the look and what not is diffrent but how they work...

I have tried google searches and all but really no info...

Well the lt1 is gettin alot of machine work done, heads shaved, the block balanced and hooned, intake fully ported and heades ported to match them.

i know i can slap and lt1 stroker kit on it and be done but i really dont want to take the simple way out. I would like to build it from the ground up...

Oh if you guys could help to i can not find hooker long tube headers for my truck??

Kind of hard to not be able to find Hooker long tubes for your truck, they're all over Summit and Jegs. You can also go to Holley Performance Carburetors, Fuel Injection, and Fuel Pumps and look them up. Look for the competition series headers. Holley Performance Products

Scat makes stroker crank and rods for the LT1.

if YOU CAN AFFORD IT GO WITH FORGED PISTONS THEY WILL LAST FOREVER AND HOLD UP TO NITROUS IS U EVER DECIDE TO GO THAT ROUTE...... CAST ARE THE CHEAPEST, THEN HYPERUTECTIC, THEN FORGED, FORGED PISTONS ARE SEVERAL TIME STRONGER THAN CAST.....

Ok, so forged pistons sound good, but the kits come with flat top, or whatever what would you get im looking for about 400 horses.

If a stroker kit is the best and the engine is already going to the shop soon, i guess i can go ahead and do that.

No nitrous for me, but maybe on something one day, this truck is a daily driver and will remain one.

Yall have been alot of help, and this forum is amazing! Thank yall!

Who is going to assemble this engine?? The pistons need to be picked out properly because they directly affect the compression ratio. Whoever is going to build the engine needs to cc the chamber of the heads AFTER they have been planed and ported. Without this measurement you will never be able to pick out pistons. the flat top pistons you talk about are indeed different, the height of the pin, and valve reliefs cut into the piston will also change the compression ratio.

    What is block balancing
