well i am assembling all the parts for my swap. I have a 94k1500 4wd. Going from TBI to LS1
anyways i bought a 98 camaro LS1 and 4l60E, i want to keep the 4wd, I would have to change the output shaft and tailhousing to work with the transfer case correct? essentially changing a 2wd trans to a 4wd other than that im almost 95 percent done with getting stuff together.

That is correct. you do know that the trans has to be torn completely apart to change the output shafts.

buy a transmission and transfer case from a late model. Unless you have an NP205 you will need a stronger transfer case.

ya i knew they had to be torn apart and accually allready have it in motion. If i bought the trans out of a late model and transfer case, will my driveshafts still work?

If you change to a newer transfer case can you keep manual shift ? The newer cases have electric actuators don’t they?

That is also my biggest question, if you change to late model tranny and t-case, can you still have manual shift and will my original driveshafts work.

OK, i got the truck in the air today and there is no was in hell i can adapt the new transmission to the transfer case in the truck. The tailhousings are completely different designs, (old is 4 bolt new is 6) and the case is shorter on the new one. Anyways i sort of have an idea i was wondering if anyone can give me some advice.
I was thinking about intalling the ls1 and leaving the factory pcm hooked up as well. Splice into all the needed references like tps, vss, etc so both computers are getting it. theoretically i could have the ls1 pcm controlling the engine and the stock pcm controlling the trans, right?
my other idea is possibly just swapping over the valve body assembly to the old transmission. that should be the only difference is the electronic part and valve body right?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
