Today I received one of the first publicly available GM high volume LSx oil pumps from Scoggins Dickey Parts Company. The oil pump rotor on a stock LSx is .421 wide and the new one from an LH6 engine is .508 wide. That is 20% more oil volume friends!!! I am also glad I decided to replace the pump because I tore down the old one and found that the front oil pump cover was leaking. There were oil stains between the body of the pump and the cover. Also received new Manley dual springs and titanium retainers to match the new cam. Got a new LS2 timing chain set, gaskets, valve seals and of course a new balancer bolt. Now I am trying to decide if I buy a set of new lifters to go with the rest of this new valve train. I already had a set of 7.400" Comp Cams pushrods from my old engine.

So you ascertained that cam needed some dual springs and harder retainers? It's great to hear your progress so far .

You're definitely looking to whup' some serious ass Red

Hopefully 93 octane won't cost $7.00/gal, so you'll be able to drive it to the track

I am going to keep the compression level down to stock levels or lower. I ran my previous engine on regular unleaded without problems, except when some idiot in my head convinced me to descreen the MAF and caused lean conditions. Sometimes I listen to the voices. I've even thought about converting to alcohol if the price is fair. It takes quite a bit more but may be cheaper in the long run. I have a line on a set of 55 lb injectors if I decide to do that. Hopefully the 255 pump would suffice. Right now San Antonio is the only place close with E85. Surely ethanol is available somewhere locally.

I originally didn't plan on dual springs, SDPC2000.com chose them for me. I told them the cam I was running and they sent me what they thought I should be running with the cam. Cost me $80 more than what I thought I was going to be paying but they seem to know these engines pretty good. It was funny that they didn't know about the high volume oil pump. I've been waiting almost 2 years for GM to make these pumps available.

Well, bought the 55lb injectors and then sent them back. The dude said they were high impedence injectors but when I got them I double checked and found out they were 2.35 ohm instead of 13+. That would have required a high dollar driver to power them. Oh well, back to the idea of 42lb ford or Lucas injectors.

For those that don't know, our PCM will not drive a low impedence injector. The lack of resistance in the injector will burn out the injector drivers in the PCM.
