    Engine ID 6.0 or 5.3

Can anyone tell what size engine I purchased from these castings? 12567392 stamped in the engine block and 706 stamped in the heads.

Should be 5.3 or 6.0 stamped on the front of the block. Drivers side cylinder bank. Would be under the alternator and PS pump brackets though.

the only way to tell if 5.3 or 4.8 is by the serial number, from the outside

I went through that already the serial # on the block is 12551358 which comes up as a 4.8 / 5.3l block. doesn't help me at all really. Seller contacted me back. its a 5.3l

12551358 isnt the serial number... thats the part/casting number.
the serial number would be a etched number that coresponds with the VIN#
of the vehicle it came from. usually a dot matrix etching.
