Finally got the motor mostly back together. I still need to get a few parts but the whole top end is back on.

The engine covers wont be used as I will be using Lextech's AC retention kit and there is not enough room with these covers to keep them intact.

Engine looks great. I also like the '72(?) Yamaha. Looks to be an R5C. Or the smaller DS7. Reminds me of the one I still have but have not ridden in about 25 years.

Where did you source your engine cover and what made you stick with the truck intake?

idk what you plan on doing with the engine covers but another member on here was wanting to use the 6.0 covers. im not sure if he has them or not. his sn is HRV-LS1. if your looking to get rid of them, hit him up. just trying to help another member out. if not, then nevermind! lol anyway, your build is looking awesome! keep up the good work!

Thanks. You are correct. It is a 72 DS7. I am trying to get it road worthy again. It has been sitting since 1987.

They were on the motor when I pulled it from the Denali. I am keeping the truck intake because this is a daily driven and a tow vehicle so I didnt want to lose torque. Plus I didnt want to modify this motor too much. Its just gonna stay stock.

I am more than willing to let the covers go as I have no use for them anymore.

I thought so. They were neat little bikes. Although I have the 350cc R5C, they virtually look identical. Mine even has the same color scheme as yours. Good luck with the roadworthiness project. Don't let it interfere with your swap. Once you drive the truck with the new engine, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!!!!!

Ya it has been sitting in the same spot since I brought it to work at the end of summer. Once I get the swap done, then its time to tackle that bike. Riding season is just around the corner.

What kind of Y-pipe is everyone using on our OBS trucks? I found one that was stainless and cost over $500. If I have to make one I will but if I can find an inexpensive one I will buy it. 3" collectors on the headers and planning on making 3" exhaust.

I went the cheap route and grabbed everything from the donor truck. The '99 6.0's have dual exhuast up to the muffler, then dump into a single tail pipe. It actually fit the OBS body chassis rather well. I ended up lengthening both pipes to fit the the extended cab/longbed frame and mounted the muffler in the original position so the tailpipe would exit past the rear passenger wheel. I also had to lengthen the rear O2 sensor harnesses because of the increased length in the pipes. It didn't have any problem passing PA state inspection.
