Looks damn good man. Nice job with the details. I didn't go that crazy with my 6.0 conversion. Just cleaned it up, replaced the rear main seal, removed the broken exhaust bolts on the heads, repainted it and installed it. It actually runs really well. Much better than the old tired 350 it replaced. Even though the mileage of both engines are similar(140,000 for the 6.0 and 155,000 for the 350), the LQ4 has much more power. It makes me wonder how well it would have run with a mild rebuild and some aluminum heads.

Keep us posted with your progress and keep up the good work.

You have me inspired to do the same on my rebuild. Could you tell me how much was spent on gaskets? Also, after the color paint did you spray with a clear coat?

Thanks, I can't wait to see what the added performance is going to feel like.

The gaskets were in the range of $500. Felpro has gasket sets that come with a ton at a time. I did not spray a clear coat after.

As for an update, It fires up right away with no problem. It backfires and misses at around 3200 and the plugs are showing that it is running rich. I also noticed tonight that my accelerator pump on the carb is sticking so I think the port is clogged. I am going to tear apart the carb within the next two days and see if I can clear it out and get her on the road.

I have a video of the initial start-up but it is with a camera phone and sounds like crap. It is currently with open headers. I need to get the carb adjusted right so I can bring it to the exhaust shop. Once I get the exhaust put on I will get a video with good sound quality.

Update on the carb: The hesitation was due to the accelerator pump needle being stuck, I fixed that problem and am now trying to lean out the carb a bit. It is flooding the engine very easily. Once I get it to drive a bit easier I will get it to the exhaust shop and then off to get Dyno tuned.
