4l60e vs 4l80e dimension differences

im looking to swap my worn out 60e with an 80e and have a couple questions.

1. are there any differences in obs and nbs 80e's like there are with the 60e's?

2. will my transfer case bolt to the 80e or do i need to get a new one?

3. and will i need to resize the driveshaft lengths and move the crossmember?

4. lastly will the shifter linkage work the same?

the truck is a 94k1500 so it has the old hardware instead of a cable.

2. The output shafts are different for the 60 vs 80. You will have to get a different case or swap the input on yours.
3. Yes, the 4L80e is longer

I think the 80 is much larger in size. I know it's much heavier 4L80 is 220 pounds.

About how much horsepower will a 60e handle?

i've asked around and had mixed answers. some say they have used a 65e with relatively strong motors and had little to no problems, others are the complete opposite. i think it all depends on the quality of the trans and the way the owner drives it. hell, i know guys who have burned through 2 or 3 80e's in the last couple years. that being said a stock 60e probly wont hold up to much. thats why im looking into a beefed up 65e.

are you speaking from experience? im just trying to get all the input i can right now before i actually do the 6.0 swap and buy a new trans. right now its looking like more work than i have time or money to do, to swap to an 80e. plus im not sure if i like the higher 1st gear the 80 has.

You can get a lower RV 1st gear for it.
