Thread: 92 Silverado 5.3/60e conversion

Nice toys. I dig the GTO. Not sure if you are aware, but you can bolt a NP241 to the factory T-case adapter from one piece 4L60E 4x4 trans. I bolted a 90 burb NP241 to a 2004 4L60E with no issues. May be an option moving forward for you.

Thanks I love GTO because it's such a sleeper. I knew that the np241 would work but I got a great deal on a 2wd trans and ended up pulling my front diff out and selling it. I wan't planning on using the truck for offroad or too much drag racing so I figured I would save some weight by eliminating the 4wd components. I figured a good set of slicks would be plenty for the track.

Did you end up keep your lower passenger side AC mount? I think I am going to go this route. How did it work out?

EDIT sorry I see that you said you are running without AC right now. Do you know that the 5.3 compressor will work? How does it get wired in?

Yeah, i'm still running without air. I know that on most obs trucks the frame has to be notched for the compressor to fit. I think to make it work just wire it in with your stock switch to make the clutch apply.

BTW nice Yota in your avatar. I've got a cherokee with a dana 44/8.8 on 33s locked front and lsd rear.

Thanks, I just saw that thread with pictures of the frame notch. I would rather go this route than do a relocation I think.

Regarding the Toy, thanks! My Toyota is partially finished. SAS, 5.29s, detroits, dual transfercases, 4.7s in the rear case, 37" Iroks. Still to come is shock hoops, 14" travel bilsteins, hydro assist steering, winch bumper and other armor. Taking a break from the Toyota build to make myself a 98 K2500 LM7. Build thread for the Toy below if you're curious. Lots of pics.

Sweet. I took a break from the XJ for a while to build the truck up too. I'm getting back to the XJ now and hoping I can get a couple trips to the hammers this year again.

Thanks I'm really happy with it. So far I have taken out a BMW 740i and an Audi 3.2 TL. They really had no idea why they got smoked.
