    Question Another dual exhaust ?

Okay so I have been reading ever since I have been a member of this here forum and really have picked up some good information. So here is my question. Thinking about dualing my 5.3. I got a muffler shop who has been in business for as long as I can remember. He is offering to dual my truck out. He said it helped his 2001 back when he had it. So here it goes and my question will follow.
He will cut my Y pipe at the rear where it comes together and dual it from, there. He will run the same diameter pipe to the 2 mufflers and then out the rear with stainless steel tips. The mufflers will be Flowmaster copycats... VXs I think he called them.
So now comes my question or questions.
Which is the best setup for the mods I have as of now. It is my daily driver. So muffler back dualed out or the true duals as mentioned above will give me the best results; such as, power, fuel economy, etc...
And by dualing out will it get the backfire pop?
And my final question is if I do dual it out will 2 mufflers or a single muffler be the best way to go? Meaning a muffler with 2 inlets and 2 outlets or 2 single mufflers?
    Any information will be appreciated.

Thats not always true, size of pipe plays a major factor in how well the exhaust flows, and what performance gains/losses you will have.

Aaron, in all honesty, you don't have the mods that requires true duals yet. And even so, I would not cut my stock y-pipe setup...I would keep it intact and save it for later.

If were maxed out of the bolt-ons and spraying, then I would tell you to buy LT headers and have custom exhaust from the collectors. But until you get to that point--keep what you've got.

But if you DID wanna do it, I would run 2 SI/SO mufflers and run 2.5" pipe. Throw in an x-pipe just for good measure.

I appreciate all the info. Keep it coming. As of now I am pretty sure I am not goingot run the true duals. And as far as the Long Tubes... they will be coming in time.

    3" Y for 5.3 reguardless of hp

3" true duals for 6.0 reguardless of hp

i found running 3" duals with headers and only a tune felt better than running a Y pipe or 2.5 dual pipes pipes. which i run 2.5s now butr wish i would have stayed with the 3"

Update... After reading everyone's responces last night and getting up this morning and driving to the muffler shop I decided on the muffler back setup. The copy of the Flowmaster sounds great and the workmanship was great too! Total cost was 160.00 out the door. All I provided was my truck and my previously used Stainless Steel Echo chamber tubes that I salvaged from the Summit catback system. I ran the 2.5" duals from the muffler back to prevent the loss of too much backpressure. Truck runs and sounds great.
