i hope those plates put it in the correct spot. i reall dont want to have to mess with adjusting or moving my shift linkage and stuff.

You shouldn't have to if you do it the way I suggested.

I used some plates from Trans Dapt Performance Products - Engine Swap Motor Mount Kits part #4572. I had to drill new holes in the frame to move the tranny cross member but other than that everything was good.

    00' Ls1, TSP 228R - 228/228 .588/.588, Yank SST3200, Nelson tune, Nelson wiring harness,
s&p headers, custom radiator with e-fans,
91 sub front end with billet grill and bowtie,
autometer gauges, red and grey tweed interior, dual 2.5" flowmaster super 40, Dmh cut outs, 5"-7" drop,
air shocks, 20" Intro twisted vistas, gaylords bed cover
Coming soon: Air ride with an SD raised front crossmember and 6 link canti out back

see thats what i dont want to have to do. i dont want to move my trans. then i will have to mess around and cut/modify my shifter linkage and my driveshaft will end up beeing to short.

edit: i love your trucks stance.

I feel your pain. I am installing a 5.3/4L60 into a 1972 Jimmy with an NP205. I am leaving the NP205 in the factory location so I don't have to mess with 2 driveshafts and a shifter. I am running into engine mount and crossmember issues. The front differential will be very close. Everyone does these swaps on 2WD vehicles. Not very many 4WD stock height vehicles.

Good luck finding what you are looking for. I am also looking for 1/4 inch thick adapter plates. All the 5/16 and 3/8 plates are messing with my engine height and distance between mounts?!

I was lookin at my swap stuff today. I am puttin a 5.3 in a 97 Z71, still gathering stuff, and I have the street and performance mount adapters when I pulled the factory mounts off of the vortec 5.7 I noticed the plates under them had a triangle hollow in them so I saved this to put under my mount plates if that helps anyone. that hollow triangle plate was designed to center the mounts to help install the engine. or at least that is what i was told when i asked a local mechanic many years ago.

BK Cauley, dont get caught with your pants down like I did.

Im doing the swap right now actually and last night I went to go and mount my tranny and my worst nightmare came true, my motor was about 1.5" to far forward.

When I was looking at what designs of plates were best I could not find ANYWHERE that said "this one is stock location" . I finally stumbled across an obs swap and he used the S&P design plate so I figured well he did , so can I .

My truck has an nv3500 5 spd in it ... you can understand why I REALLY did not want to move my transmission .. my shifter would move.

So my suggestion is use the S&P design plate a picture of it is here ( LS1 Swap FAQs - LS1TECH ) and move the engine 1.5" backward of this.

    Good luck
