the 98 is much better than the 700r4 with the Gen3 swap. It will simplify the swap by leaps and bounds since you'll be able to plug the PCM transmission and speed sensor into the 60e. A 1999+ V8 60e will allow you to get away from the adapter but the one you have located will be no issue. Be sure to test fit the converter to your flexplate before putting the trans in, you might have to elongate the holes in the plate a little to get them to line up.

yeah, 98 is the SBC setup for the flexplate and you'll still need the spacer and flat flexplate to use the stock 98 trans stuff.

THANKS RedHeartbeat ive just pulled the 700r4 going down in the morning to pickup the 4l60e !! it pays to do some research and ask questions i aprectate your help next on the list is a set of f body manifolds my truck one hit the frame i think the f body ones are a tighter fit!!
yes they are. I have used the 98 fbody exhaust, they're stamped stainless steel and a lot tighter fitting than the cast iron manifolds.

do you know if any other model (later) camaro or firebird are as tight!!??
here is where im at got the engine in !! now working on getting some manifolds for it to fit !!
