thats pretty much the plan...at least 10:1 though, high compression and good heads is the key to power

Or you could just put some decked 243/799 heads on there to really bump the CR up... 10.5 to 1

they make different thicknesses just use a 6.0 head gasket!! if ya gonna stay NA shoot for a 11:1 cr, i am fine with it and i drive my truck daily. whatever you do, talk to some cam guru's and have them spect a cam for you. only difference is i am running a lq9 i had my heads milled .015 then used a .040 mill gasket.

DBTBSS is very familiar with these heads as to another member on another site, that i followed when i built my motor, i just did a few things different
    Simple: 408 on steroids!

cool yeah i will most likely be running the stock l92 truck intake then,

i didnt know if i had to use the l92 head gaskets or if the 317 head gaskets would work, but now i guess they are the same so i can go with the thinner ones for an extra bump in cr,

i would love 11:1 but its gonna be hard to get that with an lQ4

I am dealing with the same dilemma. I wanted to go with the L92 setup BUT there's just no way I can get the comp up high enough (no less than 10.5:1) with the lq4 shortblock without worrying about to PTV issues. I think you're better off going with a ported set of cathederal heads (really nice ones though, no TSP junk, etc) It'll cost more but you won't have to flycut pistons or worry about over revving.
