LQ9 has flat top pistons, I have been told that's the only way to tell.

LQ9 6.0l, PS longtube, CAI, E-Fans and a custom tune via hptuners
Pull a spark plug and roll the piston around up to where you can see it and look for a dished piston if you want an LQ4. If you have a bore scope its much easier to look.
