Thanks for all the help guys! Looks like i'll have a 04 lq4 tomorrow.
is there anything that I would need different to do this on an 04 with a 5.3, and would an ls2 short block pretty much slide in using the 5.3 heads?
depends on if it has the 52x relucter wheel or not. If it does you'll have to tear the bottom end out and swap relucters wheels to the old style. You'll also need a couple extension leads, one for the knock sensors and the other for the front mounted cam sensor.

this is probley a newb question but im going to ask anyway. i have a 02 1500 with a 4.8l i want to swap in a 6.0l. what will i need? to make it run. computer harness what is needed and what can i use off the truck i have. what year 6.0l should i be looking for to make the swap eazy on the wallet
you will use all your existing accessories and harness. You will need a new tune for the 6.0.
Nothing special, just be sure it comes with the injectors. Swap engines and order an tune for your truck converted to 6L. Be sure to give the PN on the injector to your tuner so he'll know what size you're running. All parts that are on your 4.8L will transfer over to the 6L, even the intake and exhaust. I find its usually easier to swap the whole intake over from the 4.8 to the 6L than it is to swap parts. You will have to pull the fuel rail off and swap the injectors but thats so simple even a caveman can do it.![]()

LQ9 has flat top pistons, I have been told that's the only way to tell.
