    Newb from omaha

I'm currently from omaha. I've got a decent 99 2-door hoe. Had it for about 2 years but its gettin tired. I know I'm gonna drop in an LSx but I'm not really sure which engine. This will be my DD so I'm looking for as good of gas mileage as possible. Is there anything especially different or difficult with the engines with active fuel management that would make it not worth using one?

Hey man! Welcome to LS1truck. As for a motor swap, you could get by with a 5.3L--but I would go 6.0L. They get ok gas mileage--actually, my friend who I helped put a Magancharger on his 6.0L ECSB truck a few weeks ago is getting 22 mpg hwy--with 22'' wheels! I would not try and mess with a new motor and the DOD...it would be a wiring nightmare--and it would complicate things too much...

I have always wanted a 2 door Tahoe, my favorite body style! Welcome to the site. Drop a 5.3L or 6.0L in the hoe.

Welcome to the site man, omaha isnt that far from ol wichita here, like stated above, too much hassle with the DOD motors and it would be cheaper to go with a regular ol 6.0 or 5.3.
