flooding issue on the old clunker..

Ok fix after fix i finally got this 78 chevy rollin and ready to play with.. well I installed a holley 600 cfm on it about 2 weeks ago and i didnt do any adjusting beside on the outside air/fuel screws And it ran ok besides bogging at highway speeds trying to speed up...well i dropped it off at the driveshaft guy (done some extensions) and after leaving it there about 5 days ..i picked it up.. and the thing took about 20 seconds to start, had to get out and pull the choke with my hand.. and after starting it idles ok but when any gas is applied it bogs and sputters.. and blowes bluish blake smoke.. i turned the choke back to open too, i also let it idle for about 10 minutes thinking it was flooded but.. still done it.

And im no carb expert.. im a lift kit guy.. so any help will be Greatly Appreciated!

Check the float level. (get some clear sites)

If the floats are too high it will just dump fuel in.

If it idles fine, your float level and fuel pressure should be OK. It sounds like you may have a ruptured power valve. This rubber-diaphram valve is used for fuel enrichment under load conditions. It's located on the back of the metering block, so you'll have to remove the float bowl and metering block to get at it.
