i have a 04 4.8 in a 83 gmc p/u, I used the factory wiring harness and add a fuse and relay panel to it, I am trying to adapt a 02 gauge cluster to it, i have the factory manual for the 04 but none for the 02, was hoping someone could tell me what the 16 wires go to, which color to what, I have the speedometer, tach and amp gauge working, but not sure how to hook up the rest of the wires, thank you, this site has helped me a ton...

what computer/throttle system are you using?
if using a cabled throttle body and 99-02 PCM you are good to go.
if using a fly-by-wire (like in 03-07) then it wont work. the serial
data the PCM supplies is "coded" differently.
youll have turn signal indicators (2)
    low washer
serial data (oil, water, optional trans temp and fuel) gauges
    12volt switched
    12 volt constant
    ground
    driver information center (4)
    speedo
    tach
    MIL
    thats all i know of...

I will look up the wiring diagram when I get home. I just put an '04 5.3 into my '01 silverado I just can't remember off the top of my head what all the wires go to.

On a side note: Airdeano do you know if there is any way to change the serial data output on an '04 PCM so it will read on my '01 cluster?

No problem, glad you got it working. Did you have to do anything special to get the 02 cluster gauges to work with the 04 PCM?

the things like seat belt, and warning lights were not compatable, so just took the led lights out and unpluged the message center, but just hooked the wires up like the drawing said and the important things worked. thanks again
