A couple of the guys have done it. So they would know the steps to do it. W ewill have a step by step, with part #'s, etc. up in the articles section (that link is coming soon also) here in the next week or so. But you can ask and get most/all of your questions answered. The site is sure to grow, we have a lot of plans and material that is going to go on the site. Probably some of the most estensive stuff.

Start off with finding you a good used long block. Disconnect the harness from the engine. Remove the intake. Remove the engine. Pull off all the accessories and install them on the new engine. You get the ides, sorrr for the lack of details but it is a very straight forward swap. Everything will bolt right up, no problems. The pcm will actually run the engine also. You'll have to adjust idle and tune it for more fuel and timing etc.

Like domeskilla sais we'll get something up soon. Good luck on your purchase on the ls1, keep us updated.

Cool, sounds pretty easy... I have never pulled an engine so this would be a first for me.

    Couple questions:

Could I replace the computer with a F-body computer? Or just get programming?

Will the tranny and everything else bolt right up?

You think a stock LS1 would put my truck in the 14's? I have the ECSB version

You'll need a puller that is adjustable. Something like this- http://www.ls1truck/temppublish/remove53.JPG

Matter of fact, this is at my house where kevin and i replaced his 5.3 with an ls1.

I would say yes on the pcm. They are the same pcm. You can also run your fans from the truck or fbod pcm. I'm not sure if you will benefit from the z28, but it would be a big headstart on the programming, especially if you use the pcm that came with your engine. That way you wouldn't have to change a bunch of tables. Although, kevins truck pcm ran the ls1 just fine with little tuning on the idle.

You'll be ok on the tranny, however, i suggest a vette servo and shiftkit. If you don't have a cooler, buy the biggest one that will fit.

Kevins truck is running a 14.3 with a stock block, 2400stall, pulley, volant intake tube, and Nelson Performance ls1 tuning. I'm sure it's capable of a tad more. You'll definitely suprise everyone at the track, plus no one will ever be able to tell it's an ls1. unless they see the little bit of aluminum peeking out.

    good luck and post away,
