If everything from my 5.3 swaps over then thats all the cash I'm out. A few places here locally quoted almost $2200 just in labor to rebuild an engine, not including parts.
me personally... i'm going to put a new cam + timing components in the engine upgrade the springs, rebuild the tranny with a performance kit and let it ride

Mattc, where did you get yours from? I'm only a couple of hours from Savannah and if the price is good, I'll take a ride.

I was thinking about that too. If I can find a 2500 HD 4x4 in a junk yard with the 6.0 and the 4l80, if the price is decent I would just buy it and do the same thing you are. Different cam and if it doesn't have the L92 heads, I would just buy some OEM ones, toss in some stronger valve springs as I plan on adding a single turbo kit from Trick. I want to try and keep the costs down as much as possible.

i looked at the LKQ here and they werent much help they had no inventory list of anything and are pretty much self serve and have no idea what they have.

i bought mine from Aaction motors (912)-236-1513 they ordered it from someplace in SC and had it shipped to her, they did a test run on the motor before they pulled it out, i got everything engine tranny ecu harness and all for $2300 i was missing a few parts when i picked it up and contacted them and shes getting me the missing parts. has a 90 day warranty of anything breaking or not working. although i'll probably be out of warranty before i even have time to get it in the truck lol.

I called a place in Augusta last year and they quoted me $2200 for an 01 5.3. I told the guy that I just wanted the motor, not the whole truck. He told me that was their price on all motors. I said no thanks, I'll call somewhere else.

I used Bow Auto parts out of New Hampshire. I bought the motor through Ebay. It shipped VERY fast and arrived exactly as shown through the auction. it came with a 6 month warranty and they even threw in the MAF sensor for free. I opened the valve covers up and pulled plugs today and everything seems in order. The motor seems to be pretty clean internally. I will hopefully have it in the truck this weekend to know how it runs.
