from what i unstand you do not have to change the tcu program to run a4l80e.
you can run it with the 4l60e program you all ready have .
you just have toi wire it up right . wich is not hard

My first "Fresh" 65 trans. failed due to a shaft tolerance issue in first few hundred miles. The second failed at about the 1500 mile mark and was due purely to an improper tune. I had a local shop rebuild the unit(3rd time) due to part failure contamination and correct the tune and have been fine since. If you go mail order make sure someone checks your truck computer an avoid the $8500 bucks I have put in mine. FYI, this is a boosted 6.0...

talking to the fellows from efilive they have a gut slow69 i think that has done it with out doing a segment swap So i will have to try it that way slow69 is running his without doing a segment swap

the newer pcm will not control an 80e with the 60e tune. NBS pcms have done it successfully a few times. I'm not sure how they handle the gearing difference, though. If the gear ratios in the transmission were adjustable in the tune it may not be such a big issue.
on the NNBS trucks its a simple TCM swap, move a few wires, add a speedo connector and you're ready to rock and roll. Read my trans swap post for the details on how to do it. NP can send you out a tuned TCM for the 80e swap.

i ve had 12 trans pulls since december of '09. and truck as sitting for 6 months. no gotta pull trans again since i broke other planetary set..... i got over 6k in trans so dont feel bad
