nice price. Doesn't matter what year, just a bolt hole missing when you put it on a Gen3 engine, no biggie. Maybe you got lucky and found one that has the lower 1st gear setup similar to the ones they put in motorcoaches.

Get a custom converter made to bolt to the Gen3 engine. Its nice not to have to buy a crank spacer, flat flexplate and longer bolts to mount up early style. 1st one I did was with the spacer/flexplate. 2nd one Precision Industries built the converter to boltup to the Gen3 dished flexplate with recessed pilot.

I have no idea how to tell them apart unless they're torn down.

Or if your putting it in as is, do the math with a gear ratio calculator and see what speed your going in 1st at what RPM and then you will know.

all you need is a regular calculator

    engine rpm ÷ (speed [mph] x 12 x 5280 ÷ 60 ÷ tire circumference [in inches] x rear diff ratio)

    my truck, for example...
    10mph x 12 x 5280 ÷ 60 ÷ 99.43in x 3.73 rear = 396.15
    1600rpm in first gear ÷ 396.15 = 4.04

my first gear is actually 4.02, but that formula gets you pretty close seeing as how you're approximating speed & rpm

00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd
