The kit can be put in after the trans is installed....just FYI
Spent a lot of time today and made minor progress. Changed the fuel pump, which took much longer than it should have (but doesnt everything seem to?). http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/lsx-t...tml#post360782
Took out all the old engine wiring I knew I wouldnt need. It seems like I still have a lot of wiring left that I probably dont need? If I had a diagram of the firewall plugs I could probably get rid of plenty more. Since most of the wires left just run in between the two firewall plugs I cant tell what they are or where they go so I have just left them alone.
Also cut the fuel lines about 6" from the end and installed rubber fuel injection hose. I will install the rail connectors when I get the 5.3 in so I know the correct length. I agree its probably not the best way to do it but it should work fine.
Changing the pump...
Taking out old wiring...
The yellow zip ties are simply temporary. Just so the wires didnt go everywhere when I took off the loom.
More pics to bore you...
Fuel lines...
Connectors to mate fuel lines to fuel rail.
I got the correct u-joint to mate my drive shaft to the 4l80e yoke. The part number is Precision Joints #477. Has anyone put a 4l80e in a 88-98 c1500? Im still curious how the shift linkage is gonna match up.
Hopefully there is a present from Thunder Racing on my doorstep come this evening so I can do my cam/valve springs/water pump swap. My wiring guru Tim is coming tomorrow to install the new engine harness or atleast mock it up to make sure its all good.
Not a lot of comments on the thread....am I boring you guys?

looking darn good man.
you know youll have to redrill the frame to move the tranny mount right?
i cant answer the wiring problems, i used a Haynes manual an it didnt really tell me crap about those plugs on the firewall. i kept starter/battery/oil/water/ALT an thats it.
oh an all my AC stuff

I believe I will have to move the trans crossmemer back but I believe I can use existing holes in the frame. It appears there are 3 sets of crossmember mount holes in the frame. I will confirm when I get it in but even if I have to drill that shouldn't be a big deal.
I have isolated starter/battery/oil/water/alt/ac but there are a lot more left that I'm afraid to cut because I don't know what they are. Like I said, most of the wires go between the two firewall plugs so I can't just trace them to an end.
did you cut your tranny harness out? its a huge bundle of wires? did you cut out your knock sensors (solid blue single wire) did you cut out the fuel system yet? (inj/tps etc.) o2 sensors cut out? did you

I didnt cut out the tranny harness yet because I wanted to check with my wiring guru first. He said cut it so I will this evening. I cut the knock sensors, o2 sensors, and the rest of the fuel injection system out as well as the ignition system (dist, coil, ign module - not the starter etc).
then all you should have is the fuel pump relay that goes to the oil pressure an wipers AC stuff.
your tranny will be ran off the new harness so your old stuff is useless.
find the FP signal in the factory harness an run it to the FP signal wire on your new harness.

Well then hopefully after i cut out the old trans harness I will be done removing the old wires?
I definitely need to find the FP relay. Is it on the junction block on firewall?
