Oil change is twice if not three times more. Fuel filter costs twice as much and needs done 2 or 3 times more often than gas. Diesel is $.20-.30 more per gallon here. Easy choice.

that depends a lot on what oil you use. fuel filters do add to the cost a fair bit. but overall i get so much better mileage it still ends up cheaper. what 400-500whp gasser gets 17-18 mpg city? i dont even know what i get highway but its got to be +23.

depends what your doing with the truck. once you start puting go fast goodies on the gas truck your mileage is gona suck, i can have my cake and eat it too.

I even said it matters what the truck is for in my 1st post here.

At only 18 MPG the cost offset of the MPG still favors the gas engine.....especially when the cost of buying a diesel and modding it comes into play vs. gas.

Plain ole GM bulk diesel oil change is $50 vs. $20 for a gas engine. Fuel filter is $50 that needs replaced every 12-15K miles vs $25 for a gas that needs changed every 30-40K miles.

A dmax auto truck is $12K more than a 6.0 with all other options being the same.

yea it really depends on the circumstances, a new truck is obviously gona be a huge difference in price. if your the kinda guy that takes it to the dealer for an oil change, probably a good bit more expensive there too. also depends on local fuel prices and what power level/mods your comparing. my truck was cheaper then most pay for a decent gas rig, and i only have a little over $1k in performance parts so it makes sense for me.

Yeah....also at the dealer level you'd see the people that pay so much more for the DMax that they ignore all maintenance and are usually the most likely to complain about prices and cry for warranty not realizing how much more maintenance they should have done to a diesel that they did not do because they were used to a cheap and low maintenance gas engine Long sentence LOL.

yea a guy that lived down the street from me sold his cummins because it got like 11 mpg, it had like 40k miles. i asked him if he ever changed the fuel filter, he said whats that? lol. same guy that blew up an envoy from never changing the oil. it lived and died on the break in oil! lol. some people cant handle maintaining a vehicle.

You need to get Nathan to fix the max tire size in the BCM and then we can finish tuning yours.....Nathan you need to get this fixed for him if you can.We are getting service brake system messages because of the tire size!

Not the BCM Dale and not with GM software. I can tell the ABS we have bigger tires but it won't change the engine and trans stuff as the VSS goes to the PCM before it relays the info to the EBCM and the IPC. Service Brake System means something different than an ABS light or Service ABS message. If I can make it out to the dyno day I'll bring a CANDi and a TechII.....as well as my POS MTD leaf blower that seems to have no spark. I need help as well....
