If you are going to get a posi and gears, here's a good place:

eBay Motors: GM 3.73 RING PINION TRUETRAC POSI 8.5 GEAR PACKAGE 8.6 (item 330276468722 end time Jan-01-09 16:45:47 PST)

It's a complete pakage with posi and gears but you would still need gears for the front. Check out his store for other items if you are just getting gears. IMO, I would go ahead and get the posi installed while you're changing things.

Maybe start by offering your location. There may be someone near by that would offer a hand in person.

The cam swap is much easier for someone inexperienced. The LS engines are probably the easiest cam in block, cam swap engines there are.

Rear axle works requires a lot of knowledge and special tools....even if the tools are home made (GREG).

Quality homebuilt tools is what it's all about. Do it on the cheap.

i live in southeast georgia, i don't know that anyone on the site is anywhere near me. I have rebuilt a few engines, and put a few cams in, but never while the engine was still in the vehicle, is that possible on these trucks?
