IMO, to me it doesn't matter what year I would get. Most ppl prefer the 2001+, becuase of the ls6 intake and slightly higher HP rating.
But, you are not worried about the intake cause you only want a longblock, no intake.

True, but if you can get a 01+ LS1 that has the LS6 intake, you can sell it for $300+ and off set your cost. The regular LS1 intake is almost worthless. Just thought i would throw that in for free. Oh yea, 1st post

edit: oh yea, How much HP can the stock 5.3 or 6.0 truck style TB support? i was just wondering, since the LS1 guys port/polish their TB for a few extra ponies, is there anything like that for the truck motor guys?

    just a random comment:

Why would u guys wanna hide the vette intake and pretend your truck doesn't have a vette engine? Show it, and be proud. That's my opinion. heh

they wouldnt, but for a truck, you'll need a truck intake manifold to use truck accessories. Plus with the 6.0 instake manifold (IM), you get more low end.

Allen ran a 13.9 with a stock ls1, 6.0 IM, 6.0 exhuast manifolds, stall, his tuning, dual flows and a rigged CAI with stock farm truc tires and peg legging it.

But, if you wanna use truck accessories you need a truck IM, if you use camaro/vette accessories, you'll need a ls1/6 IM.

personally i love the look of the vette intake, would it really matter in the long run if I just used the vette accessories and kept that manifold? How much am i losing with it in my truck?

Not sure exactly, but ls6 gives more top end, but the 6.0 is more low end and just a little less top end. We have no comparisons to go off of.
