why dont u just go small block? good luck finding stuff for the 8.1 ud have 10 times the selection with an LSx engine, but if 8.1 is hwat u want im not standing in ur way. i just think ur gonna have a couple probs u might not think of when u go with that big of a motor. also whichever tranny u run is gonna cost u an arm and a leg as ull either go allison or 80e. parts r more for them and the tranny itself costs more. do what u want, but i think u could build a better much more upgradeable engine tranny combo for that truck for a lot less. just my opinion tho, good luck!

Because in actuallity this engine will give me my power goal cheaper. How do you beat an 8.1L 2005 all electronics plus an Allison transmission for $500!??! $1350 if I have it shipped. The question I have now is the drive by wire throttle body...

u will not get that engine(if its any good) for that price trust me if u do ur the first human in history to get that kinda deal(except OJ). thats the thing about ebay, i could start anything in the world at any price, and it doesnt mean anything in fact it could end at 1 million bucks and u still might not get it, just depends on how the bidding is set up. if u did get it for 500 id be very suspicious of the seller being as they r n canada and just sold an engine worth 4 times that price possibly for 500 bucks. idk im just saying if u ever wanted to upgrade like u say do ur gonna spend more money on those other parts than a part for an LSx based engine. im trying to help u out not bash ur idea. there may be reasons y no one has done this swap before and they prob have to do with the LSx being a more attractive swap. idk sorry if im wrong

Does anyone know if it would bolt up to a TH400 or a 700R4 with an adapter plate? You could sell the 4x4 tranny and use one of these. I think it would be a "unique" swap if it would work.

Yup, you could make a t-400 work, or a 4L80E, or the Allison this particular deal comes with. I think I'd avoid anything t-700 or 4L60 based..... start with what the factory offered and upgrade from there....
Jewmont3, you can just disregard most of what Allstar posts, as they are just his opinions, not much basis in fact.Do a quick check of his past posts and you'll see what I mean.
A big block swap would definitely be trick and there are lots of parts out there to upgrade. If you want a huge amount of low end torque for towing or hauling you can't go wrong with a fat block... The poor gas mileage of these engines may be a concern for you however.... This will definitely not be a 25 mpg on the highway type of swap! There is not a lot of engine swap info here to ease your way but that is to be expected.... The Gen III engines far outnumber the big blocks in production so of course you'll see more small block swaps. And remember, you are posting on LS1Truck.com.... there may be more info available on this engine on other forums...
I've done a fair amount of buying and selling on Ebay and due dilligence by the buyer is always the rule. Check out the seller, give him a call , check on his business and if you are comfortable with him, do the deal. It sounds like you are reasonably close to him and that will make the transaction easier.

ok dude, ur god and all ur posts r facts? i clearly stated it was my opinion, and to be honest i could care less what u think. im not here to bash anyone as i stated above, apparently u r here to do so. i dont have anything to say about u or to u cuz i dont know u just like u dont know me. its people like u that make no sense at all. i read posts all day long on all kinds of stuff from people that know way more about this stuff than ill ever know(possibly including u), so if i offer an opinion it usually has pretty good backing. u can think ur own thoughts, but u might wanna think before u speak, trust me i know from past experiences(which i did apologize for by the way). for u to say this stuff is just rediculous and not even on the subject of what this topic is concerning. have a good one pal, the moderators should take note of this bashing as i made no derogatory post to deserve this rude action. thank you!

Yeah the guy has a reputable business and only one negative feedback. He isnt exactly close to me. Probably 6 hours away. But would still be worth it if I could save on the shipping. I have learned alot on this engine just from yesturday researching everything I can. If in fact the engine is good then it is a sweet deal. Anywho I am going to make a few calls to answer some other questions I have before I call them and ask them some of my own.

Well I apologize if I have offended you but I do not take back what I said. My post was germane to the thread and was addressed to the original poster, not you. It is based on fact. Check your previous posts and you'll see what I mean. I do take considerable time to think before I post and I did so here. I hope to continue to contribute to this forum with fact based responses, not opinions based on others expertise.
