a high stall tq convertor isn't going to pull at idle. It's going to have to get some rpm to pull away from a light. Normally, that is.

yeah im sure you are gonna get that with the cheaper torque converters but from what i have heard, the vigilante converters arent going to moan and kill drivability. I have a 3500 converter in my 87 monte and it races all the time....which is a good thing due to the enormous cam. Im lucky to have brakes more than one push in it. That is wat i am use too so like tim z, I am a lil scared to try the new thing! Hope it is very drivable and only moans when I am on the mat...lol.

By the way guys lt1 dave tuned my car, and I added very few bolt ons and from an idle start with a 2.07 horrible 60 foot time it went a 13.01 @ 111 on street tires. I think that is pretty impressive work to get that outta my tired ole ls1. So if anyone is close or needs a mail order he can hook ya up!

I know it's Nelson country, and he has a great rep no doubt. However, Texas is quite a drive for us Ohio guys. Plus a mail order tune vs a dyno tune = No brainer for me. If you go to SilveradoSS.com that's PCM4less territory. These guys all seem to have a pretty good grip on what's up. To each his own, but I have to thank Nelson for being a site sponser and helping to give me this forum. Thanks!!

YEAH, Texas is far away and i am by no means picking on your choice. But my tune is right on thanks to data sharing with Allen and his hard work to get my truck running right. I'd love to go down there and get a live tune, this is the next best thing and the support is great. i never had to worry about my truck bieng unsafely tuned. its great you found the help where you did, im just saying its not "right " to promote another competitors prices or services when they compete against the founders site. but all other tech and questions will always be welcome!

Cool, I took the prices out...I agree we all find the best options for ourselves. Also there is a lot less margin for error with FI. Thanks

    Dave,

Notice that over here you will not get flamed and left for dead for stating your own opinion like they will over there???!!!!

You have a good point, dyno is nice if you can get a good tuner on one

question about yalls converters. i understand what they do when you launch, you can stall it up to 2800 or whatever converter you got, and launch from that. but what does it do when your driving and you launch from say a 60 on the highway? also what is your normal rpm range going 70 mph with a 2800 converter?

your converter will still lauch you from a 60 roll, it will still lock at the rated stall, give or take a lil. With a good converter, like a vig, your rpms should be the same as a normal converter unless you have a load on or may be pulling a larger hill. Hope this cleared some questions up for ya.

And to all above about the promoting and stuff, I was only gettin opinions and I didnt know there were sponsors and such on here, I was just chatting about what has been going on with my truck and getting some answers and opinions, I am sorry if I upset anyone or ne thing of that nature.
