+1 for the trutrac. the valutrac is not offered for 28spline axles only 30spline. build it right or dont do anything. being cheap will have you spending more later. the 8.5 will take some abuse if set up corectly.

Well sounds like the best way is to build it with the trutrac, sounds about right about spending more the easy way out.
why not swap a whole impala rear end in or in my case i swapped a whole 12 bolt out a 70 1/2 ton into mine i paid 200 bucks for 12 bolt with 4.11 gears and a factory rebuilt posi unit.
