Sorry for the late reply. I've been working 80 hour weeks. The vga output shower the same symptoms as the lcd, so my theory of a loose connection to the mono or video card is still valid. The computer got sent off today.

At least your screen didnt go dark like my friends HP pavilion. I have to agree with mike and ducky. Depending on where you grab it, it can change different colors. I've seen some make the entire LCD flicker on and off.

I've never taken a laptop apart but my guess is there isn't a seperate video card. The video is probably built into the motherboard and the video chip may be on that corner. Probably a few loose pins on the chip itself caused by the flexing in that area. That's my guess anyway.
Sometimes true some have a separate card built closer to the screen tho for the most part
