I kinda wonder if the stock pushrods are just slightly too short from the factory and sound as if they need a lash adjustment? (I know I know, these are non adjustable rockers, but it seems like they need to be tightened up a bit)
the hydraulic lifters should keep the right preload on the vavle train...but my 5.3 used have that tick till i put some 7.4 pushrods in it

Mine happens on driver side. Mine happens when i pull the boat up the hill. Toward the top one or two sounds like solid lifters.. thens fades back out slowly. I run STP oil treatment ($3) with my syn power. Straight 10w40 never had any probs
