Thread: Newbie - 5.3 Identification

    Ok....now that I have that firgured out I have another hopefully minor problem. This eninge is the "oil pan/axle" version. My assumption is that I remove the axle assy and simply install another oil pan. Could it ne that simple? Is there anything major between LS oil pans I should look for when replacing?

    oil pan and pickup tube will most likely be needed. Sometimes you have to replace the windage tray, too.

    I like the 99-07 classic truck pan unless you're slamming the truck to the ground then the 98-2002 Fbody pan is lower profile(more clearance).

    My book says it's a 5.3 325ci, 9.5 - 10.1 compression, 285-320hp, 325-340 lb-ft.

    Kinda of vague but hope it helps...
