I joined this site just so i could do this swap on my own so i'm after all the help I can get.
ok check it out, got a 2001 Silverado 1500 Z71 ext short box with a 5.3L with 184,000 miles on it. been the best damn truck I've ever had. never any problems, buts its looked after very well. I want to swap out the 5.3L and swap in a LQ9. I got the how to build LS engines book(sweet) but here's the deal, i can get an LQ9 engine and 4L65E trans and computer and wiring harness for a pretty good deal. however its all drive by wire? what all do i need to do to make this swap work? I'm also going to throw on some shorty headers. but what about cam? lifters? larger throttle body? yes no maybe? I'm looking to make it worth my time and effort to maybe get a few more ponies of this engine. However i' not going blower of turbo. I want for a nice combo of performance parts cause i drive the truck everyday year round. any advice on all of this would be greatly appreciated.
