Greg, the drill bit for 3/8-18 NPT is actually 37/64" LOL I was wondering how you get the signal to the PCM using just the vortec sensor on the 5.3 without running wires to it. It would be much simpler to run both sensors. I thought Greg just used 1 sensor, sorry for the confusion.

I do use just one sensor. The PCM doesn't throw any codes if you don't have oil pressure. Imagine that! I would have thought it would light up every light on the dash should you have zero pressure.

This is the tap drill chart I used Lance... NPT Tap Drill Sizes - Engineer's Handbook
It seems that is the size you're supposed to use if you have a tapered pipe reamer. Works good with a hand drill too since most guys wollar a hole out as they drill, can't hold a drill straight and square ( me included )

Ok, you got me there! We don't deal with too much straight pipe in our shop, mostly tapered.

"So I am ok just using one sensor?"

I'll let Greg answer that one since I run 2.

I run just the one sensor mounted in the stock location. Thats just me. If you have the wiring there and feel like buying a new sensor, do it. Its all pretty much personal preference on if you use one or two sensors. For the sake of argument you could just install both of them and then there will be no doubt that the PCM is getting the oil pressure information, even if it does nothing with it. I guess I should go hook the HPTuner cable to the truck and see what PSI it shows the oil pressure at when its not hooked up, probably maxed out at 99 PSI or something.
