    Question Clarification

So, if I'm understanding most of you correctly, the 5.3 and 6.0 don't make enough power with external bolt ons to make low 12's, but an LS1 with similar bolt ons could, in a light weight truck with the right gear?

Or is the position of experience on this board that a naturally aspirated LSx of any origin can't make it?

I found a video on YouTube that shows an '01 Sierra with an LS1, 4L80E, convertor, gears, and a 100 shot turning mid-11's. Check it out at the link below.

    HTML Code:

I have tried to contact the guy to see if there is more to his combo than he lets on, but I haven't heard back yet.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

thats screams truck on pt.net. N/A it runs 13.1 @ 108. on the dope it went 12.58@118. thats with a 200shot. just goes to show how much is in the 60' times. his truck would be insane if he could get it into the low 1.6 60's

you should be able to hit low 12's if not 11's n/a with the ls1 or the 6.0

who know's the 5.3 might get it done too.

The Farmtruc was well on its way to the top of the fastest truck list when it went down to be revamped, full of good intentions. Seems like I remember some numbers under 12s. Its been too long.

did the guy say he wasn't going to get into the engine? Just asking because i think low 12's and lower are extremely possible for a N/A engine. set and and driving will have alot to do with it no doubt but it's definetly possible

i think a 5.3 with the right cam and head combo will make low 12's easily in a scsb

    Smile Tell Me More

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I appreciate all of your input.

To clarify, the engine is a low mile LS1 from an '01 or '02 Firebird. We are planning to install a cam and better valve springs, as well as an LS6 or FAST intake and a larger throttle body, headers, and true duals. We are hoping to leave the bottom end stock. We have discussed a 100 or 150 dry shot of juice for the race track only.

We were planning to run the 4L60E that was behind the engine, but I'm now thinking an 80E might be better. Regardless, a 3200 - 3500 convertor and firmer shift points get thrown in to the box. We will add an Auburn TruTrac and probably 4.10's for drag racing, and likely Cal Tracs and MT's or M&H Racemasters, if needed.

The goal is to run 12.0 or better, and it is our hope that with this combination an 11.99 is possible. It sounds like many of you are saying this can happen with this combination.

Any suggestions? I'm really learning a lot and trying to soak it all up.
