It was consuming oil faster than I could refill the fuel tank. 100 miles to the quart. The engine builder must have found the problem because it runs so much cleaner now. I think that maybe they had the rings spaced incorrectly on the number 8 cylinder. Billy got it fixed for me and all is well. As always, TRTTurbo takes good care of their customer.

No, they sell the engines. A place in Houston builds them. The owner of the place used to be an instructor down there at the School of Automotive Machinists (SAM). He knows his shit. I've actually seen an article with him doing a buildup on a race engine in HOTROD magazine. It's a shame the engine was a ford. They talked in the article about how much LSx engines he builds, a majority of his work.

Oh yeah, I did all the labor. I think this is about the 8th time I've had an engine in and out of my OBS trucks. The sad thing is that the transmission may be coming out soon to replace the 3-4 pack again. I had a broken MAP sensor and I think it may have caused me some damage to the clutches. 1-2 is perfect, 2-3 is sloppy, 3-4 is perfect. I'm guessing I need to drill my trans spacer plate out in the 3rd gear hole to get a little more fluid through there, maybe .125". I do have a 4L80E sitting back in reserve just in case it grenades. I really couldn't tell the damage to the transmission with the 3600 rpm stall, the factory stall isn't so loose.

Go through Billy, he'll get you a better price than if you went directly through the builder. I wouldn't feel right telling you who they are so you can circumvent his business. Believe me, Billy isn't making much on the engines. If you want parts for a very reasonable price he is a great guy to go through.

I've got the tools to rebuild the transmissions so it's not a big deal to me to go through one every once in a while.

thats cool i dont have a problem doing that just wondering what a motor built would be verses building it myself... all i need is a short block really i have l92 heads and intake on there way thru a buddy... called in a favor... granted i dont have anything else to make the swap with but i recon you have to start some where... i think i have a 4L60E on its way and i recon i will have Nelson's build me a harness to use on the motor that graphs into my truck systems...

The builder does more work than most average guys ever would think of doing. He decks the block, align hones the crank bore, bores the block, hones them to 4.03" and sets the piston ring end gaps for your application. He installed steel backed performance bearings in the mains, good quality cam bearings and coated bearings in the rods. Check out what it would cost you to buy all the parts. New GM 6L block, complete balanced rotating assembly including 4.000" Eagle crank, 6.125" Eagle rods, Wiseco forged pistons, Hellfire rings for nitrous, bearings, ARP main studs, ARP rod bolts and the freeze plugs and dog bone oil plunger.

You essentially end up with a blueprinted short block.
