    what all's the kit do? if it's just to bolt a NV3500 to a 5.3, it's snake oil

    This is a great write-up. I have been searching for info on this topic for a week now and finally typed the right words in Google search and brought me to here. Thank you for taking the time to post it has saved me a lot of headaches.

    I would like to put a 5 speed behind my 6.0L, but i'm afraid the NV3500 won't hold up. Anyone know anything about the NV4500? I know Dodge used it for a while

    NV4500 is what GM used behind the 6.0

    the 3500 will hold. i've seen a truck that's took the v6 out & built a 454 in it's place, beat on it, and then swapped the 454 for an 8.1 and ragged on it some more.
    i think the measly torque from your little 6.0 will be safe.

    The NV4500 is a great transmission, but it is geared for a work truck, not something you want to be fast.
