Find either set of 243/799 and just bolt them on, The compression will go either way. By the time you buy heads you find, mill them, order pushrod's, install valve springs, then P&P the heads, pay for any machine work and labor you could buy a decent set of aftermarket heads for the money that you will spend working stock castings. If it were me I would just find decent set of stock heads, change the valve springs and stem seals, clean them up and bolt them on until I was ready for a good use of CNC'd units, or until I outflowed the stockers...JMO

You have a point there horsepower. To he honesty. Spending 1200 or more on heads just not in my budget right now. One day it might be I figure get 243s mill them and be in 650 in heads. I can get a good deal the place my shop deals with.

243s typically sell for 200-300 these days. anyone selling them for more dont exactly realize how common they are these days

paid 200 for the set on my 53 from a salvage yard, came of a trailblazer 5.3

they were never on a LS1, and good luck on the ls2 part.... look for the v8 trailblazers and its cousins...look for GenIV 4.8/5.3s as they had 243s

those motors alone are worth 500 bucks, if your paying 450 youre paying to much, LS6 springs are 60 bucks new also

Ha! A complete ls1 or ls2 costs 2200 or more used. And a 100,000 6.0 is 1500 around I'm at.but whar talkin bout before junkyards won't take a ls1 or ls2 apart so someone can buy the heads off them.well all the one I have delt with anyways.

Was referring to the 53/48s that came with them

And feel sorry for you of you're paying those high prices for motors

Those prices are retarded!! Like George said, If you know what to look for, you can find 243's on a 4.8 or 5.3 and get the whole engine for about $500
