I guess im gonna order this - 4L80E Solenoid Master Kit 94-03 and then pull the pan and check it out. I wont really know what im lookin at because Ive never done any tranny work more than just changing a pan. Unless there are peices falling out then I probably wont know if its broken. If its gunked up hopefully Ill be able to see it.

its pretty simple to pull apart an put bavk the same way. now adding springs, plungers and blah blah! youre on your own bc ive never done that either lol.

i wouldnt just change noids for no reason ya know but hopefully thats what fixes it. IF not take it to the tranny shop an have them pull it apart an double check the internals to make sure all is well. if not then rebuild it

Ya. I was told I wouldnt have to pull the valve body to change the solenoids?

I took it to a tranny shop and they were scared to touch it since it was a conversion/swap. Their scanner was showing some weird things I guess cause of some of the things that had been turned off in the tune.

Im hoping it doesnt need rebuilt since all the gears actually work just not all the time lol. Seems like if they work at all then there arent any hard parts broken.

to change the noids no, but im saying if its no that bc the valve body is bad or something its easy to pull

if you have all the gears when the fluid is cold i dont think its going to be a noid. i say a problem with the valve body, but im not a tranny guy. i can put a stall in, pull servos, change filters, an pull a valve body to
install a new seperator plate but i cant pin point your problem.

Well I hope its not a valve body problem. That sounds like it could get expensive.

i dunno...pull a used one. a tranny shop should be able to explain "about" whats wrong with it if you tell them its a 9x 80e with a looser stall. everything else is stock, but when its cold i have all 4 gears after it warms up i only have gear x and x what do yall think it could be?

Thats what I did. They plugged their scanner into it and got scared and ran away. They said somethin about not knowing what exactly it was since its not stock. They asked what exactly the pcm was and i said it was an '02 5.3 with a 4l80e tune. They wanted to know what year 4l80e tune and i didnt know so they ran scared. I called Nelson and Erica told me they are all the same. ? It seemed that its not that he didnt want to help just he was scared to.

I hold more respect for the very knowledgable folks on here than i do the average mechanic. It seems no one knows tho. I think that this build thread has become very cluttered and because of it no one paying attention to it. I have made posts in the Mechanical section but not gettin much feedback.

im a basic mechanic, i only tinker with my stuff an my friends stuff. like i said i dont deal with trannys. im a diesel mechanic by occupation. we dont work on transmissions like this.

try that kit, if it doesnt then call a transmission shop an ask their advice not that shop youve been talking to imo.

dont get scared to pull the valve body, nothings hard about it.
