Im new here been lurking for a couple of months and reading up on everybodys swaps. My little Supercharged 305 just ain't cutting anymore in my 96 and im thinking of going ls1. I know this topic has been beat to death, but I just wanna make sure I got everything figured out on what works and what dosen't. So far I need a wiring harness, PCM, either a crank adapter or a newer 4l60e, AC relocater or notch the frame, than the fuel pump needs to be upgraded and I guess my throttle cable will work. Also here in GA we have the OB2 diagonostic emissions with the Nelson harness will I pass. What else am I forgetting besides a Case of Bud light and 2 of my buddies? Thanks for the help.

Electric fans. F-body if you have a 28" radiator. 2005 Silverado if you have a 34" radiator. Engine adapter mounts will be required. Radiator hoses may need adapted. Fuel pump relay will have to be wired in to the PCM/harness. You'll need fuel supply one way or another.

Hi and welcome strokerace! You can still use you stock fuel pump, throttle cable and cruise control cable. Pretty well told you the rest.

What about the emissions part will I be legal? My understanding the harnesses made are just to get the engine running with no EGR or stuff like and you have to run 2 PCMS at the same time sounds confusing. Seems to me when they plug up to my OB2 port it will not show an engine running correct me if I am wrong. Maybe a Vortec 383 would be a little easier install for me.

The only reason to run 2 computers is for the anti-lock brakes. I decided to run 1 PCM and I'll find a way to make my ABS work. As far as emissions go, a vette, T/A and Camaro pass so I don't think there's a concern. LOL

Well I thought the harness and new PCM was just the basic stuff to make the engine run I didn't know it would take the place of my PCM and all that stuff. I am not used to all the newer engines and what will pass emissions and won't pass.

You can get the harness done however you want it, with or without emissions. The harness & ecm from an
F-body is pretty much a stand alone system. As far as the diagnostic port goes, you'll have to tie it into your new harness (I have not done this yet) or it will still be connected to your old ecm and it will not be functional. I wouldn't say this swap was easy but it's really not as hard as it sounds, but yes a 383 stroker would be quite a bit easier but definitely not as coool

Thats a sharp truck man. What kind of numbers are you putting out or quarter times? Thanks for the explanation I was thinking that it had to be something like that.
