man thats a clean 81. i would be reluctant to even touch that truck. unless my engine went out. then it would make a great sleeper.

Yeah, I liked my 81 SWB, black with red tuck and roll upholstery. I didn't like the 8-10 mpg though. My 73 LWB 4x4 got 18 mpg so I sold the 81. Damn that 81 305 was a dog.

lol ya its a beast, but i love it. wash/wax every week tryin to keep that paint on. its the original 81 paint. all im wantin to do is the swap, man that would be killer. and that s&p site rocks, they have everything. but ya ill start posting up more on here as i get started. im tryin to figure out how much this is gonna cost me. if its not too personal anyone mind sharing what damage an ls1 swap did to their wallet?

I have about $5K before I installed the turbo. I doubt you can do it that cheap any more.

I think you could get it done for about $5K.

    1. Motor/Trans (may even get with accessories & PCM)
    2. Driveshaft (dependent on engine mount placement)
    3. Rear end with POSI (get the power to both rear wheels).
    5. Wiring (Allen has a 4-bang unit for reasonable price)
    6. Fuel pump assembly (in-tank preferred, but I'm running external)
    7. Fuel lines (hi-pressure lines for Gen III fuel injected motors)
    8. Misc plumbing lines (trans, power steering, & water)
    9. Exhaust (your preference)
    10. Gauges (your preference)
    11. A/C (custom... no doubt)

Hey guys... "guess-timate" some prices here. Tally up an estimate. Add comments on what's missing (this is a general list of parts).
